The Way the Cookie Crumbles

It’s officially November. You know what that means? It’s officially the holiday season. Yes, I’m one of those annoying people who starts playing Christmas music November 1st. I know a lot of people disagree with this, but I love Christmas music, and I work my (‘scuse my french) ass off at Hamilton, so I’m going to play Christmas music if that’s what makes me happy. So feliz navidad everyone.

On a slightly less aggressive note, I got a new camera! I’m so excited about it. My first DSLR camera was a Christmas present 2 or 3 years ago and I got a Canon EOS Rebel t5. I’ve used it all that time and took over 16,000 photos on it apparently (I checked, because apparently you can do that). It was my love, my life, but it was time for an upgrade. I take photos professionally now, so I thought I deserved a professional camera. All the Canon Rebels have what’s called an APS-C sensor, which means that every time you take a photo, it is automatically cropped because of the ability of the sensor. However, I now have a full-frame camera, which gives you the full photo.

It makes a really big difference. APS-C cameras crop each photo by up to 40%, so that means if you upgrade to a full-frame camera, you’re getting more than 2.5 times as much of the photo, meaning more pixels and better resolution. I’ve noticed a difference already. The biggest thing for me was taking photos in low lighting, which has always been a weak spot of mine. However, this camera does much much better with high ISO, so I’ve already noticed a big difference. All the photos in this post are with my new camera.

If you’re wondering, no recipe photos currently posted were taken with my new camera. I did photograph some scones I made the other day, but I haven’t written that up yet. Hopefully over Thanksgiving break I will, although I’ll be writing up a lot of other recipes I’ll make then too. I don’t even have enough time to get my work done right now, let alone work on writing recipe posts. But here I am writing this as a study break.

Hope your autumns are going well! It’s finally starting to get cooler here, and it even says it’s supposed to snow next week! I’m super excited.
